Studio Air’s 100-Day Project

It’s a new year which means we want to dive into all things creative in a fresh new way.

To help us do this, Studio Air is committing to the 100-Day Project. We will spend 30 minutes everyday doing something creative.

The idea is simple: choose a creative project, do it every single day for 100 days, and share the process on social accounts using the hashtag #The100DayProject. (For more info about the global creative phenomenon, read here: https://www.the100dayproject.org/

This will give us the opportunity to set new creative goals that become a part of our everyday lifestyle and don’t just dwindle away like New Year’s Resolutions so often do.

Here are some ideas we’ve brainstormed:

  • Create a bespoke font: A font that’s unique and special to you and your personality, or a font that you think could work for a global brand. Remember there’s letters, numbers and glyphs to design to get you through the 100 days!

  • Write a short story or film: Why not take this opportunity to write your own anthropology of short stories or short film scripts? You could then try producing and directing it, then putting it out to festivals in your next 100 day projects!

  • Draw: Whether it be digitally or with pencil and paper, practising your sketching skills can be another way to express how you see things in the world. Create a unique illustrative style and if you want an extra challenge you could try to animate your drawing, putting them into motion and adding another layer of dynamism.

  • Making your own clothes: How about designing your very own clothes? Whether you use thrifted items and then elevate them with a little reformation, or you choose to start from scratch with fabrics and patterns. You could make your wildest fashion ideas come to life!

  • Julie and Julia it: Why not get into cooking and make as many variations of your favourite food or drink? From coffees, packed lunches, or going through an entire cookbook of recipes - challenge yourself to be creative with your food. Pushing yourself to try some more plant-based recipes for a better planet!

  • Learn a new instrument or write a song: Music is another big creative outlet, which we mainly listen to, rather than make or play. So how about the challenge to learn a new instrument? Or make your own music and create your very own soundtrack to your life?

  • Document yourself: In today’s age of Tiktok, Instagram Reels and YouTube you might think it’s too late to start but we disagree - it's better late than never. You can learn how to shoot and edit engaging videos and photos of yourself and what you do, ultimately levelling up your social media game.

If 100 days of creativity seems like a really big commitment for you, here’s some other things to try that may help spark your creativity in another way -

  • Try go on a 30 minute walk without your phone or any distractions, allowing your mind to wander

  • Make it a mission to have coffee dates with people you would like to learn more from every fortnight

  • Take a new class each week or whatever your schedule allows to see what other creative hobbies might interest you, there’s so many to choose from these days.
